    Reverse osmosis (RO) is a water purification process that uses a partially permeable membrane to remove ions, unwanted molecules and larger particles from drinking water. In reverse osmosis, an applied pressure is used to overcome osmotic pressure, a colligative property that is driven by chemical potential differences of the solvent, a thermodynamic parameter. SUEZ's immersed ZeeWeed ultrafiltration (UF) membranes are ideal for media filter retrofits and large water treatment plants. ZeeWeed membranes are used in direct filtration applications of lake and ground water, settled water, tertiary filtration of wastewater for phosphorus removal or water reuse, and as high quality pretreatment for reverse osmosis.
